PhD in Education
Elena joined the faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages at Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in fall 1989, after previously studying at the Institute of Foreign Languages named after Maurice Thorez. Elena’s PhD was awarded by the Moscow State Linguistic University and her thesis was devoted to Internet technology integration for teaching specific content to master-level students.
Since coming to MIPT, she has taught a range of courses reflecting her interests and research. Elena is currently involved in the development and delivery of many courses, principally at Masters level.
Her teaching specialties are TESOL-related topics, English for Academic Studies, Internet-based content knowledge EFL teaching.
Elena’s recent research has addressed issues around English language learning and language assessment, with particular reference to TOEFL iBT, TOEIC and GRE. The research includes work related to best quality TEFL training and language proficiency standards.
Elena is Director of Language Training and Testing Centre, which was founded in March, 2014.
In 2014 Lydia qualified as a specialist in organizational management from the Russia International Academy for Tourism.
She is a real expert in customer relationships and various organizational activities (human resources, administration, organizational planning).
Lydia can easily identify practices and improve internal systems with an eye toward future needs and budget realities.
